About Me
Hi, thanks for popping by!
Hi, I’m Clarice! I’m a global citizen who cares about preserving and taking care of mama Earth.
Born and raised in Southern California, I now call Yosemite National Park my home. I’ve left pieces of my heart in Los Angeles, Sierra Leone and Namibia where I have lived.
Gal in Wander sprouted from sharing my experiences while living abroad and traveling while in the Peace Corps. I have always had a wandering heart and a wondering mind leading me on grand adventures.
These days you can find me within Yosemite NP or the surrounding National Forests recreating regularly. If I am not in Central California, then I am on an adventure somewhere near or far.
Get to Know Me
First international trip
At the ripe age of one my parents took me to visit the small island of Antigua where my father was born. Antigua was also my second international trip at the age of 15 which was a bit more memorable.
First backpacking trip
Favorite travel
My Close-of-Service pseudo Cape to Cairo trip after completing my Peace Corps service. It included visiting eight African countries in two months with many exciting adventures, like a music festival in South Africa, kayaking a stretch of the Lake Malawi shoreline, trekking to visit the gorillas in Uganda & climbing inside a pyramid in Egypt.

In 2014 when I was evacuated from Peace Corps Sierra Leone my friend got last minute backcountry permits to hike the John Muir Trail… 200 miles from Tuolumne Meadows in Yosemite NP ending by summiting Mount Whitney. I made it two days from Tuolumne to Mammoth before I called my parents to come get me. One day I hope to go back and complete the whole trek.
